Dr. Julia Carroll, Director of Dermatology, led participants through a seminar on using injectables to rejuvenate their appearance. As a cosmetic dermatologist, Dr. Carroll says there is a significant amount of art that compliments the clinical aspect to what she and her colleagues do. She encouraged participants to choose the right practitioner, ideally a dermatologist or plastic surgeon, to get the best results.
Dr. Carroll outlined the techniques that can counter the signs of aging, which include: relaxing the skin, refilling and recontouring the skin, resurfacing the skin and redraping the skin.
Participants learned side effects, procedure timing and expectations for each of the following procedures:
If you are interested in any of these procedures, Dr. Carroll says it’s important to educate yourself before rushing in. Book a consultation where you can discuss your goals. Ensure your physician has the same philosophy that you do — take a look at how they or their staff look is often a good indication of their perspective. Finally, establish a long-term plan by starting with one or two areas.
“Nothing lasts forever, so maintenance is key,” says Dr. Carroll. “That includes disciplined at-home skin care and laser procedures on all three of your faces — your face, your neck and your hands.”
Dr. Carroll believes the best results occur when procedures are customized to your objectives, involve frequent reassessment and micro-treatments done in succession and with restraint.
